The Ace Cafe  to Hastings Run
May 5th 2008

Sunday May 4th, slight drizzle and overcast weather, did not deter a group of us from meeting at "The Crown" to embark on a trip to The Ace Cafe on the North Circular road, London, with an  overnight stay at the Abbey Point B+B and then a run to Hastings, organised by Jonathan Watkins.

Once past Askers the weather improved and we did not encounter rain/drizzle until we came back over Askers on the way home.

The journey was breakdown free with the exception of Phil's pillion foot peg coming loose, but as we entered the madness of the London suburbs, the continuing use of clutches and the hot weather resulted in Nick's clutch rod malfunctioning and, although he made The Ace Cafe, he could not make the run to Hastings and returned home.

On Sunday night we had a bite and drink at The Ace Cafe whilst watching some highly entertaining impromptu stunt displays, these should not be tried at home Jim!

Monday broke warm & sunny, breakfast at the Abbey and we were all looking forward to meeting up with hundreds of others at The Ace Cafe, however on arriving there were only between 60 and 80 which we felt was disappointing to say the least.

On leaving, we made our way through London and over the Thames (Southwark Bridge) onto the South Circular road and down to Bromley, by this point we had separated into small groups and questioning whether this was all worth it with such a small turnout.

However on turning into the small village of Locksbottom at 10.00am, just outside of Bromley, our fears were smashed by the site of hundreds if not thousands of bikes, which, had been steadily leaving for Hastings since 9.00am that morning.

We left for Hastings and arrived at 12.40 and rather than witter on any more have a look at the videos and photos.
